How UmberLore works

UmberLore covers how art got made and what happened to it afterwards: paintings, buildings, pigments, movements, forgeries and thefts.

Sources

Each page lists the sources behind it, with links. Most come from Wikipedia, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tate, the National Gallery, the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and MoMA.

Dates and corrections

Every page shows when it was last updated. If something is wrong, write to contact@umberlore.com with the page address and what looks off. Confirmed errors get fixed.

Ads and money

Pages carry display ads. No page is sponsored, and advertisers do not see or approve pages before they run. The Privacy page lists the advertising and analytics services the site uses.
